Food & Beverage Processing
The TAFE SA Regency International Centre Food Technology Program equips students with the knowledge and skills to participate in the production, packaging and distribution of food on an industrial scale. The modern processing of food is a complex operation underpinned by extensive knowledge of food chemistry, microbiology and processing techniques. Individuals responsible for producing safe, quality food require a broad knowledge of the science and technology involved and it is these attributes that are taught in the Diploma program.
In addition to working with established food lines, graduates are also able to participate in the development of new foods and ensure that these foods meet essential standards of safety, quality and other areas of food regulation. Furthermore, students gain knowledge and experience in other core areas of the food supply including transport, storage, packaging and labelling.
The mass production of food is under constant development and there is a continuous need for graduates with the ability to service this industry. It is the aim of the Diploma of Food Technology to produce graduates with these abilities and support the continued growth of local, national and international food industries.
