If you are from a non English speaking background, TAFE SA offers a range of courses to give you the skills to be able to communicate well in English and pursue your goals in your study and socially. The courses will help you to communicate effectively in the Australian community and will provide you with skills for employment or further English language or vocational courses.
The courses focus on your individual language needs and integrate the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
The courses are run at English Language Services (ELS), South Australia's premier and largest English language centre. ELS courses suit beginner, intermediate and advanced students and are nationally accredited and approved. We offer:
- English courses for migrants and refugees
- TAFEstart courses for people who want to study at University or TAFE or work in a specialised area such as hospitality, information technology, aged care, hairdressing, financial services or other areas
- accredited teacher and tutor training
- counselling and referral services
- learning support
- home tutor and distance learning services
- settlement and support services which provide information about life in Australia
- assistance in finding jobs
- a number of special facilities, such as modern computer suites, free internet access, a comprehensive library, childcare services, and student lounges where students can relax and meet each other.
