Literacy, Numeracy and Preparatory Studies

These courses will give you a strong base of language, literacy and numeracy skills so that you can work towards further study or employment. During your study you will learn a range of skills, which may include:

  • basic reading skills
  • basic number skills
  • spelling
  • using measurement
  • using computers for learning
  • understanding money
  • strategies for learning
  • filling out forms
  • food preparation and cooking
  • time management
  • Aboriginal language.

Specific study options are also available if you wish to enter the SA Police, Defence Forces or SA Fire Service and need help preparing for the required selection testing. Some courses are also available specifically for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students. The Certificate I in Introductory Vocational Education at Adelaide City Campus offers a special, parallel program of modules designed for deaf and hearing impaired students.
