Sport Development

Studying the Diploma of Sport (Development) at TAFE SA Regency Campus will prepare you for employment in a variety of roles, including:

  • Footballsport development officer
  • school sport coordinator
  • sport development manager
  • sport program manager
  • sports administrator
  • sports coach (clubs and schools)
  • community sport and recreation officer
  • gym instructor
  • strength and conditioning coach
  • sports marketing manager
  • recreation centre manager
  • sports store manager.

During your study you will not only learn a wide range of skills, but will also have the opportunity to be involved in practical activities, such as:

  • Soccernetworking with key sporting identities and elite sporting groups
  • planning and conducting teaching activities in schools
  • organising and conducting sporting carnivals
  • conducting sports coaching sessions
  • being involved in team building activities such as the High Ropes course
  • organising and participating in projects involving major sporting groups including the Special Olympics, Football Federation Cup, Volleyball SA Championships, SAPSASA events, SANFL coaching and carnivals and the Canoe SA Active8 River Marathon
  • accessing the latest in sports science technology
  • organising state championships for organisations such as Volleyball SA, Rugby SA and the Basketball Association of SA
  • expanding your personal networks by attending industry breakfast seminars and conferences
  • leading a team of Certificate IV students in the planning and implementation of sporting events and programs.

By successfully completing this course you will also gain a Level 1: General Coaching Principles (Australian Sports Commission) industry qualification.

The Diploma of Sport (Development) incorporates the Double Certificate IV in Sport (Coaching and Development).
