Aquaculture

Studying a TAFE SA aquaculture course will prepare you for a career in a variety of areas at either a technician or manager level.

Depending on the course you choose, you will learn a variety of skills during your study, which may include:

  • basic food handling and safety practices
  • applying chemicals and biological agents
  • controlling pests, predators and diseases
  • fishing charter operations
  • handling and harvesting stock
  • vessel or farm operations
  • maintaining water quality and environmental monitoring
  • overseeing and undertaking effluent and waste treatment disposal
  • emergency procedures in an aquacultural enterprise
  • developing and implementing an aquaculture breeding strategy.

Animal care courses are offered at the Gilles Plains and Port Lincoln campuses.
