Studying a TAFE SA agriculture course will prepare you for a career in farming and pastoral work in a range of roles from a farm hand to livestock sales.

Depending on the course you choose, you will learn a variety of skills during your study, which may include:

  • operation and maintenance of farm vehicles and machinery
  • welding
  • tending to animals and crops
  • managing and maintaining farm resources
  • selecting livestock for market
  • preparing, using and maintaining chemical and biological agents to required standards
  • organising and coordinating employee procedures
  • operating pressurised irrigation systems
  • monitoring and operating water treatment processes
  • operating fertigation equipment
  • sampling soils and analysing results
  • designing drainage systems
  • environmental work practices
  • penning sheep
  • crutching and shearing sheep
  • pressing wool
  • preparing fleece wool for classing.
