Electronics is divided into the following main areas:
- Consumer electronics covers audio/video electronic equipment, such as hi-fi systems, TVs, car stereo systems and DVD players.
- Business equipment includes photocopiers, telephones and faxes.
- Communications is a broad field covering broadcast communication and two-way communication using telephone, radio, television, satellite, fibre optic and other systems.
Computer networking and data communications involves connecting computers together to form local area networks and wide area networks, faxes, modems and other methods of data transmission.
Computer maintenance - the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnosing of computers and associated peripheral equipment such as printers, monitors.
- Electronic controllers, which includes microcontroller programming and applications, and robotics.
TAFE SA offers a wide range of courses or individual modules in this area which will give you the technical knowledge and skills to work in the industry. The courses are hands on, with a mix of practical and theoretical components.
