Studying a TAFE SA civil engineering course will prepare you for a career designing and constructing roads, railways, tunnels, dams, pipelines, bridges and high rise buildings, working in mineral or petroleum processing plants, soil testing for roads, and much more.

Depending on the course you study, you will learn a variety of skills, which may include:

  • civil construction processes
  • computer aided drafting
  • environmental issues
  • fabrication processes
  • materials science
  • site investigation and basic construction surveying and estimation
  • advanced mathematics
  • design of steel and reinforced concrete structures
  • pumping and drainage systems
  • statistical methods.
