Graduate Profile

Photo of North Terrace, Adelaide

Kirsty graduated from the Advanced Diploma of Arts (Professional Writing) in 2004, and is the author of several books, including:

  • Kirsty BrooksHitching: Tales from the Byways and Superhighways
  • Mad Love
  • Lady Luck
  • The Vodka Dialogue
  • The Happiness Punch.

Kirsty has been the Chair of the SA Writers' Centre and was awarded the Barbara Hanrahan Fellowship at the SA Premier Literary Awards in 2004 to write a new series of books. She has also written for magazines, websites and internationally distributed board games.

'The Professional Writing course at Adelaide Centre for the ARTS changed my entire approach to writing,’ says Kirsty. ‘I learned not just what I wanted to say, but who I was saying it to, and how I wanted to say it. I continue to recommend it to anyone serious about his or her writing career, and count myself as extremely fortunate to have been introduced to writers and lecturers I continue to admire and consult with. I have a hideous fistful of regrets but enrolling in this course is not one of them.'
