Millinery

Studying a millinery short course will prepare you for a career manufacturing headgear. You will learn about the different millinery mediums and techniques to create a variety of hats.

Your studies will include:

  • felt, straw and covered hats
  • blocking and shaping
  • tools
  • stitches
  • trimming
  • finishing
  • quality control
  • repairs and basic maintenance
  • pack, storage handle and despatch.

Once you have completed the course, you will have the skills to design and create your own headgear.

Creations from the millinery program

You can choose to study the Introduction to Millinery at Adelaide Centre for the Arts or Millinery Studies at Marleston Campus.
