Studying a TAFE SA fashion retail course will prepare you for a career in a diverse range of fashion and footwear businesses. Courses are offered from Certificate II to Diploma level and are designed to give you a pathway to a variety of careers.
The Certificate II in Retail Operations (Fashion) will develop your skills and knowledge for a career in the retail industry and provides an entry level qualification for the fashion retail industry. During the course, you will learn about:
- customer service and selling skills
- visual merchandising
- product knowledge (including garment terminology and fabrics)
- styling (including figure analysis and wardrobe planning).
You will also gain hands on experience in the fashion retail practice shop.
The Certificate III in Retail Supervision (Fashion) is designed to further develop your skills and knowledge to prepare you to coordinate or supervise other staff members in the fashion industry. You will learn skills such as:
fashion buying
- marketing
- workplace innovation
- human resources/employee relations
- promoting a store image
- coordinating visual merchandising
- setting store budgets
- motivating staff as a team to maximise sales.
The Certificate IV in Retail Management (Fashion) will prepare you to work in a management position within the fashion retail industry. You will learn about:
- recruiting and selecting personnel
- training staff
- leading and managing people
- marketing
- managing fashion visual merchandising
- fashion buying
- setting up systems to support innovation
- managing financial and human resources.
The Diploma of Retail Management (Fashion) will prepare you to monitor, maintain and improve sales, service and delivery. You will learn about:
- market research
- developing new markets
- managing merchandise
- store presentation
- leading and managing teams
- planning and managing human resources
- implementing financial control systems
- maintaining store accounting systems and budget allocations.
